This time of year there is a lot of talk about lambs and the value of purchasing registered stock. If you plan to breed and want to develop a reputation for providing high-quality stock for breeding purposes, take the time (and money) to go the registered route. In the end, it's the only way to prove your sheep come from original stock recognized by the Harlequin Sheep Society & Registry.

Guidelines for the integration of new genetics from registered Babydoll Southdown sheep mated to registered Harlequin sheep have been posted on the Generations page. In short, HSSR will allow one-time breeding of any registered Harlequin sheep to a registered Babydoll Southdown until 2030. There is a new designation for those lambs: F1-BD. See all the new designations and pairing requirements at the Generations page. We believe this program will help us enhance the gene pool without diluting what we love about the Harlequin breed.
With the definition of where cross-breeding with registered Babydolls is now headed, there is no longer a need for an Open Registry process.

It was apparent there was confusion about the process of registering sheep both adults (often as Transfers from another farm) and especially new lambs. To help guide our members, a new page called Registration was added. This page outlines the three scenarios of registration: standard and open.
Please look over the page and send any suggestions for clarification, or any unanswered questions to: JillChristopher@live.com. Remembe this registry is only as good as the input from our Members. Thank you.
TRANSFER of Sheep process update
We've changed the form for when you are transferring sheep to your name. You DO NOT need any pictures to transfer an animal. All you need is to be a curren member, a Work Order including payment, the Transfer form and the original Certificate of Origin.
